I have played the uilleann pipes for 40 years in the places I have lived: Cambridge, East Lancashire, Liverpool, West Cork, Edinburgh and Orkney.
My career has been in software engineering and, in 2014, started using 3D printing to address the problems in uilleann pipes that I’d encountered while playing. I’ve been able to use my applied maths and software engineering expertise to good effect.
I’m a member of the Johnny Doherty branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann and compete in the annual fleadhanna, typically piping, lilting and whistling.
